AST Custom Filters and Systems
Below is a partial listing of recent "Custom" Projects AST has completed along with photographs of each. For more information on a particular project or if you are interested in having AST construct/fabricate a custom filter or system please contact us

Note: These projects are in no particular order and are only a small representation of custom filters/systems we have fabricated.
| Ouray National Fish Hatchery, Vernal, UT | |
|
AST provided one custom Model PBF-50 Special. This unit was designed to provide both biofiltration and solids capture on a system used for propagation of the four endangered Colorado River fish: razorback sucker, Colorado pikeminnow, bonytail, and humpbacked chub. |

| Washington State University, Vancouver, WA | |
AST beat out several competitors for the right to provide a "Seawater Table" to the Science Department at the WSU Vancouver. The system was designed so that multiple small tanks could be set in the upper tray, each tank would receive filtered, chilled and sterilized water. The tanks would then overflow water into the upper tray, flow via gravity to the 120 gallon sump tank under the table where the water would be picked-up and pumped (via a Sequence 750 saltwater centrifugal pump) through three 24" carbon/floss filters, a 3/4 Hp Aqualogic in-line chiller with titanium chiller barrel and digital thermostat. Finally after passing through the chiller the water is pumped through an Emperor Aquatics 40 watt UV sterilizer before being returned to the top of the table. Additionally, a small protein skimmer with its own was installed on the sump tank where it recirculates at 5 gpm. The main tray sat on a stainless steel stand, the equipment under the stand was mounted on a Carson equipment pad and finally a maple wood cabinet enclosed three sides of the system. |

| Rainforest Cafe Quarantine/Holding Systems | |
AST recently delivered three quarantine holding systems to Rainforest Cafe. Working with the curators of several Rainforest Cafe restaurants, a compact, economic design was settle upon. Each system consists of two 200 gallon rotationally molded circular PolyTanks, a 1/4 ft3 Bubble-Washed Bead Filter, a Precision Marine Protein Skimmer and a Rainbow Lifeguard Carbon Filter. Two Danner Mag pumps provide water circulation. A Mag 9.5 pump is dedicated to circulating water through the protein skimmer at 7 gpm and a Mag 12 pump is used to circulate water through both the bead filter and carbon filter at 10 gpm. The filtration equipment is mounted on a raised plastic equipment pad and the pumps are mounted off-the-floor under the equipment pad. |

| Twenty-Five Cubic Foot Prototype "Airwash Marine Drop System" | |
This unit was developed as part of our DOC SBIR Phase II Research Grant entitled "Development of an Extremely Low Water Loss Floating Bead Filter for Biofiltration and Solids Capture on Recirculating Marine Aquaculture Systems". The unit is shown here installed on an intensive indoor shrimp facility in Corpus Christi, TX. |
